One Last Hurrah

Towards the end of August, Ryan took some time off of work and we headed to Hunters for some fun in the sun.  The weather was warm, the water was lovely and the fishing was splendid.  Can't ask for much more!

Logan had a blast 'riding' the tube.  Daddy found his arms and back were a bit sore the next morning from yanking the tube around!

Our afternoons were spent lounging on the beach while the kids played in the sand...

or followed their Daddy in search of crayfish and minnows.  Okay, so maybe I was the only one who did any lounging...ha!  But lounging came to an abrupt end one afternoon after the kids were playing up on the sandy hill above the high water mark and discovered some 'squishy rocks.'  Logan was having a grand ol' time tossing these 'rocks' until Ryan got a closer look and realized what they were.

Yep.  Snake eggs.  They weren't quite ready to hatch (thankfully!) but Ryan did pry one open and was surprised to find a baby snake already over a foot long.  We're pretty sure they were bull snakes (no diamond shaped head like you find on a rattler) but I wasn't taking any chances and so we packed up in record time and decided it was time to go fishing.

It was a really good week of fishing.  Lots of walleye were caught and in an effort to avoid the bees, Ryan cleaned them out on the boat one evening.  Of course, that meant he had more help then he could possibly use.(:

Cooling off out in the middle of the lake.

The Three Musketeers eating breakfast.  Can you tell which one isn't really a morning person?

Our campsite.  Aside from convention this spring, this is the only time we got the new (to us) camper out this summer.  What can I say, it's been a busy summer!  Hard to believe it's come to an end already!
