Our first road-trip of the summer is behind us and what fun it was! We left Ryan behind and the kids and I set off across the great state of Washington. The camera got a work-out and I warn you that this is a photo-laden post!
First stop - the big city to see my old friend Sal, and meet her sweet little cuddle-bug.
Then it was off to Auntie Laurie's for a few days of fun on the coast.
Jake was packing up and getting ready to head out for football camp so all the gear somehow made its way onto Lane. I think you've got a bit of growing to do, son!
With Jake on his way, the rest of us headed off on our first adventure together. The Hands On Children's Museum. I have heard of museums like this but we have never been to one.

The beach!
A perfect day for kite flying but not so breezy that kites that slip out of little hands couldn't be caught. It did require a bit of running to catch up to flyaway kites but the looks of sheer relief on sweet little faces...worth every effort!
It's not a visit to the ocean unless you come back with wet, sandy clothes. They were not about to let us leave without hitting the water.

We headed back across the state for a BBQ to celebrate Grammy's retirement. Somehow I got lots of pictures of the BBQ but they're all on Mom's camera. Whoops! It was great fun to see many of the teachers from my school days and help Mom mark the end of her 29 years teaching at OHS.

And so the cycle of summer has started: pack, go, unpack, repeat! Sure looking forward to some exciting days ahead!
