Stickers and Wa-Wa's

Deciding when and how to ditch Lane's pacifiers for good has been a bit of a dilemma around here. With the arrival of our new nephew Trevin, a solution presented itself. After chasing him all over the house Wednesday morning to get his wa-wa, with him laughing gleefully the whole way I might add, I decided that maybe we should box them up and 'mail' them to 'Baby' Trevin since he would need them more than 'Big Boy' Lane. Lane was pretty excited about the whole prospect of helping mama put the pacifiers in, taping up the box, decorating with stickers and finishing off with a stamp. Then you could see the wheels start to turn ...

"Are you ready to take the box out to the mailbox?"
Big pause, major frowny face, "NO!"
Change tactics.
"Can you help mama carry it to the mailbox?"
Another loonnnggg pause, very small voice, "please..."

Then it became a very exciting adventure.

Maybe a little boost would help? I retrieved the box at nap time so you won't have to worry about receiving a box of much 'loved' pacifiers, Andrea. (:
So far so good ... he asks at nap and bedtime but we keep assuring him that Trevin is enjoying his wa-wa's now and that seems to work.
A funny side-note. The next morning when he woke up he REFUSED to stand up and walk, all he wanted was to be carried. After a while, I realized he wasn't trying to be a pest but that his knee was actually hurting him (I'm not a morning person ... it takes a while for my mind to kick into gear). All morning he refused to walk but would crawl and climb and play, just so long as his knee stayed bent. Weird! So off to the doc we went. When the doc asked if anything was out of the ordinary the day before I said, "ummm, we took away the pacifiers..." She had a good laugh and assured us it had nothing to do with that! (Turns out he likely sprained his knee and by the evening he was walking on it gingerly and today is back to his normal self.) Can't ever say life is boring around here!

This little missy took everything in stride (she still has her wa-wa's even though big brother thought they should go into the box too). She even got decorated (by daddy actually), but we won't be sending her anywhere!

  2. Great idea! We could use some pacifiers here in the evening. Trevin has figured out that a pacifier just doesn't do the trick.

  3. What a great idea. How cute of him to help with it too. I think cousin Trevin could use some of Mallory's bottles too. :)
