Seattle

The first weekend of Spring Break coincided with a non-treatment Friday.  We took advantage and slipped over the mountains for a weekend get-away in Seattle as we often do around Spring Break.  This year we absolutely lucked out with gorgeous weather!  I didn't get the camera out a whole lot, in fact, Ryan took most of these pictures, but it does give a feel for the lovely weekend.

Leaving the Seattle Waterfront on a ferry ride to Bainbridge Island.  Right behind the kiddos is the newly remodeled Ivar's Chowder House where we had lunch.  They did a great job on the remodel - it is beautiful inside!

I haven't been on too many ferry rides with such lovely blue skies behind the city skyline!

The sailboats were out in force and I was astounded how close they would get to the ferry.  Apparently they have the right-away to all but the ferries.  That doesn't stop them from getting close though!

Mt. Ranier with a hat of clouds and approaching the Bainbridge terminal with the Olympic Mountains in the background.

We also found the Ballard Locks on the Lake Washington Ship Canal to be really intriguing.  This man operating this row boat was impressive!  He wasn't slowing anyone down behind him!

A few more boats stuffed in and then the gates were shut and we got to stand on the walkway to get an unobstructed view of the whole operation.  It is really amazing how fast these locks fill and empty.  This was the 'small' lock.  It would have been neat to see a big ol' fishing boat go through the 'big' lock!
