Planes Galore

This year's local fly-in was quite a hit.  There were planes everywhere and hardly enough space to park them all.  Last year they were mainly on the ground but this year we were entertained by almost constant landings and take-offs.

There were quite a few bi-planes this year and fun to watch them buzz over in formation.

You could even go pay to take a bi-plane ride.  The whole open air thing was interesting but to have the pilot behind you....!!!!!  The pilot weaves his way down the taxiway so he can see what is in front.  Apparently once in the air sight isn't a problem...hmmm...I'm not quite as adventurous as I'd like to think.

Ryan's favorite was a 1928 (if I remember correctly) Boeing plane that was used to haul mail.  Up in the front where the windows are, four passengers enjoyed wood-grained and leather upholstery while the pilot braved the elements.

For a mere $200,000, you too could be the proud owner of this two seater!

My favorite - the paint job was incredible.

This gives you an idea of the constant motion on the runway - planes landing and more waiting to take off.

Lane was highly entertained by all the landings and take-offs.  He would have stayed all day if we'd let him.  On the other hand, Morgan was much more interested in buckling and unbuckling the straps and was much more excited by the prospect of lunch then Lane.(:

  1. Ooooh What fun! We sure have enjoyed watching the air plane spraying the crops around our house. It is a biplane and so much fun to watch! What an experience to see them up close enough to touch. Thanks for sharing
