I like to write down a few things about the kids at their birthdays and this seems as good a place as any. It's really more for me but you're welcome to read along too.
All dressed up in her new skirt, with her new bag.
Morgan at 4 years:
- Morgan is a fun mix of tomboy and girl. She prefers to play with her brothers' toys and hauls cars and trucks around in her purses (but please, do not call them purses, they are BAGS!). She wants nothing to do with dolls but she loves to play with her pink Lego's and trio blocks.
- She loves to ride her bike. In fact she has ridden it so much she's been having problems with her chain popping off. She'll inform anyone who listens that her 'Daddy bought a cheap bike at Wal-mart', much to her Daddy's chagrin. Bumpa spent some time with it this weekend and it looks like he solved the problem. Thanks, Bumpa!
- Morgan is quite animated. A conversation with her is punctuated by emphatic hand gestures and facial expressions. Grandpa Larry thinks her legs are made of springs. Sometimes I wonder about that myself. About the only time she is completely still is when she's asleep.
- I've been surprised to discover that she doesn't really play by herself. She is used to being Lane's side kick. Since he started school, she prefers to boss Logan around (and he doesn't like being bossed!). When I step in and ask her to find something to do by herself for a bit (i.e. please give your brother a few feet of space!), she looks at me with the blankest look.
- She loves drawing, 'scissoring', stamping, play-dough, stickers ... anything crafty.
Logan at 2 years:
- Logan doesn't realize he's only 2. He is sure he's as old as his siblings and can do whatever they're doing. It causes some interesting predicaments ... especially on playground equipment. If he sees his siblings do it or hears them say it, it's fair game!
- He is really starting to talk. Some of our favorites: 'too tite!' (refering to socks and car seats); 'hold on tite' (in a sing song voice); 'chil-wy, Mama!' (in the mornings when we load up); 'pic up, Ane!' (when Lane's done for the day); 'go poopy, Mama!' (as he sits on any bin or box or bag - maybe he'll be the easiest one to potty train? He's way more aware then either of his siblings were at this point - we shall see...)
- He loves big diggers/dump trucks/loaders/tractors and he knows where the local construction sites are. He gets very upset if we do not drive by them. 'Dat way, Mama, dat WAAAYYY!" On the reverse side, he gets very excited when we do!
- He is our pickiest eater. Sometimes he'll take one look at a food and refuse to eat it on sight. But if he decides he likes something, he'll pack away more then the rest of us. He's still not particularly fond of pasta (sigh!) but he loves meat and potatoes (he's his Daddy's boy!).
These two kiddos bring a lot of laughter to our household and they also ensure we sleep well at night! We love you both very much!
