Texas!

We took a little winter break recently and headed someplace warmer.  It has long been on our list to visit my brother and his family in Texas but just have not made it happen until now.  The kids were super excited and flying was a new experience for them as well.

I tried to snap a quick picture of my "followers" as they were rolling their luggage along.  They did great navigating the airport and planes.

So much to watch!

The weather was much better than what we had in Sandpoint.  We recently had -6 so when we landed in Texas and were welcomed by 60 to 70 degree weather we were very pleased.

The kids really enjoyed spending time with their cousins.  The miles don't make it very easy to get together that often so it makes it even more special when you do get together. We did a little tour of the Texas capital while down there.  It was very cool!  Texas has the largest state capital in the nation so certainly worth a look if you are in Austin.  Texas has a colorful past and we got in on a little of the history with the tour they gave.

We also got to watch Ben play basketball.  Here he is warming up with some practice drills before the game.  These boys are getting to the age where they can really make things happen on the court.  It was fun to watch.

Caverns!  We were discussing about options for things to do and Andrea mentioned there were some caverns close by.  Russell and never been to them and I was all in for something like this, so we did a tour of some caverns that are located between Round Rock and Georgetown.  It was really cool.  I couldn't believe the size of them.  Definitely a good attraction for kids and adults alike.  We had an exceptional tour guide that made it even more fun.

We rounded out the day with a stop at the "Oasis" restaurant on Lake Travis.  A little overcast but still shorts and t-shirt weather. 

Time fly's by so quickly and it seems like the days went by much to fast. We really enjoyed our time with my brothers family and its fun to be able to picture where they live now.

Our last leg of the journey we got to fly on the Oregon State University painted plane.  As most of you know that was Jeannie's school.  Left a lump in my throat but it was a good way to wrap up our travels.
